Since
moving to Midland in December 2015, I made a promise to myself. I want to
be a healthier version of Jennifer. After spending the last 4 years in
the worst health of my life, I’ve decided to take back control of my health. I
will no longer treat this body like a garbage can and keep putting junk in it
every day. I will start treating my body with the respect it deserves by
exercising it every day.
How
it started:
I
joined CrossFit on March 15, 2016. I walked into the box with the intention of
only ‘trying’ it. I signed up because I got my first month half off. I did not
expect to want to continue this CrossFit thing.
My
first class:
When
I walked into the box, I was scared, and it was written all over my face. I was
intimidated more than anything. My fitness level wasn’t close to anyone who was
there. I did not know what I had gotten myself into at the time. I just knew
that I was doing something out of my comfort zone, and it was scary. At this
point, the memory that lasts is the one of my lifting 75 pounds and two days
later my legs were sore.
Fast
Forward 6 ½ weeks:
I
have gone faithfully 2-3 days a week for 5 of those weeks (the one week I was out
of town for a death in the family). I am constantly in pain, either my knee,
legs, or arms are sore. However, this pain is one that is a must. For a few
months, I will be in pain from the extra weight I am carrying during this time.
I have excepted this as the new ‘normal.’ I listen to my body when I need a few
days off to rest and recover from the week. I have found it is beneficial, and
part of the process. I made wonderful progress these last few weeks of CrossFit. Not just in the box, but outside it as well. I have improved my nutrition 75% of what I am eating is healthy foods and great choices, but there is still room for improvement. Earlier this week, I shared my big news of losing 5.5 inches in my waist. I'm excited about that number, and can't wait to see more results soon. See for yourself in the picture below...

As
most of you reading this know, I have been documenting my CrossFit days via
Instagram and Facebook, but from here on out, you can stay updated with how and
what I am doing on the blog. I cannot thank you all enough for the support and
encouragement. My hope is to document this journey to have a reminder of how
far I have come and to help keep me accountable throughout this journey.
So, I invite you to continue this journey with me. Visit often. And don't be shy, leave a comment if you wish. :)
Jennifer
